ABOUT DAVID

I’m an executive coach and advisor who works with founders, owners, and leadership teams on the people side of their business. My approach is practical and conversational, shaped by years of real-world experience. I help leaders sort through challenges, strengthen their management habits, and make clear, confident decisions.

I founded DH HR Consulting in 2015 after more than a decade leading global HR at IES Abroad, a nonprofit study-abroad organization. Over time, I became a trusted partner to small-business leaders, coaching them through growth, transitions, and everyday people decisions. In 2026, I rebranded the practice as David Humphrey Coaching & Advising to reflect where my work has naturally evolved — toward one-on-one coaching and practical leadership guidance.

With three decades of professional experience, I’ve worked with PR firms, startups, social service providers, and professional services companies. I completed Coach U’s Core Essentials program in 2025, formalizing a coaching approach I’d already been using with clients for years.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in Communication from Michigan State University and live in Palm Springs with my partner, Andy, and our two dogs, Mack and Ferris.
